AP Rubric 2015-16

AP photography rubric

Image development:

Focal point is evident
The image has a clear subject.
The image is "about" something
Details in the image support the subject 

Principles and Elements of design:

Clear design decisions have been made that support the idea and contribute to the composition.

Technical camera function:

Exposure consistent with image intent and shows sensitivity to maintaining desired detail in the tonal range of the image

ISO  chosen is the best possible for the situation and produces an image that in free  of distracting digital noise.

Aperture is chosen appropriate to the intent of the image and is clearly intentional with respect to the depth of field produced.

Shutter  speed chosen for the image is either a unnoticeable or is intentionally chosen to take advantages of movement within the frame.

Any traditional rules of camera function that are broken are done so with extreme intention and are evaluated based on the success of the intention of the image.

Student Voice:

Ideas are either completely original or are copied with an inventive approach that support the idea.

Completion:

The photograph looks resolved

All areas of the frame support the composition

The idea and image work together.

Manipulation contributes positively to the composition and is intentional.

The final work is engaging to the viewer
