Last week I was able to go shoot for myself for about 30 minutes or so before a freelance job. The new Canon 5Ds was a simple transition from the Mark III. The camera feels and acts just like my Mark III that I just sold. The big difference is going from 21 mega Pixels to 50 mega pixels. In many was 50 pixels is not needed unless I decide to crop in on an image. If I crop in to now only show 50% of an image I will be showing 25 mega pixels. Yes sharper than the Mark III.
Another way to look at it, if I shoot with my 300mm lens with my 2x tel. on and I crop in tighter, I'm at 1200mm . Way cool!
More testing to come.

It's not just a photography class. You will go through areas that film photography would cover, we just take the images digitally. No, we don't use the darkroom, we use the digital darkroom. Limits are pushed in editing the images. The hardest thing is knowing when to stop.

NOT so Super Blood Moon, but it will do.
Myself and half a dozen CHS students joined 200-300 people on the Washougal Dyke path to view the Moon. When it was "SUPER" the Sun was so bright, that it was hard to make out the Moon. By the time it became darker, the Moon appeared higher, and yes, smaller in the sky. This was a difficult shot. 4000 ISO, f5.6, and shutter of 1/6 of a second with a 300mm lens on a 2x teleconverter. The white lines are a plane passing through.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

The beginning of this class started years ago and is just now beginning. You will be pushed to produce some amazing art this year. This will just be a start for you however. You will not "ARRIVED" at the end of the class. If you receive a 3, 4, or 5 on your portfolio also doesn't mean you have arrived. It's something to be proud of and understand your portfolio needs to be a breathing body of work.
Photography may or may not be apart of your journey after high school. Education, practice, and life experiences are things you need to take away from this course. Short cuts never work. They just let you miss out on something that was apart of that path with a purpose. Don't rush into a plan of action with a soft foundation. You may feel that you are ready, but time can't be rushed. The minute you feel you have learned all that you needed will be the same minute you stopped growing, observing, challenging yourself and getting passed by everyone around you.
